Senior Management

Mr. George Njao, Director General

He is responsible for the implementation of the policies, programmes and objectives of the Authority. Mr. Njao has over 15 years’ experience in the transport sector specifically in safety management which presents a great opportunity for the Authority.  He holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University, USA.


 Eng. Gerald Wangai, Director -Motor Vehicle Inspection

Engineer Wangai is the Director of Motor vehicle inspection and the Chief Superintendent Engineer overseeing the operations of the department. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Nairobi and has vast experience spanning over 28 years in the Public Service. Being a member of professional bodies- the Institution of Engineers of Kenya and Engineers Registration of Board Mr Wangai has attended numerous trainings and seminars.

Dr. Fernando Wangila, (Ph.D) Senior Deputy Director (Head of  ICT and Innovation)

Fernando is a results oriented and competent Business Transformation and ICT professional with a demonstrable track record of success spanning over 15 years. Nine years of this experience has been gained at senior management and business leadership level in the public and private sector. As a business leader, Fernando has provided strategic direction and successfully delivered large scale and complex ICT research and innovation programmes for governmnent departments and private organisations. Specifically, he has been involved in maximising the realisation of benefits from business and ICT transformation initiatives. Fernando holds a Ph.D in Business Innovation and Technology Management and an M.Sc. in ICT Policy and Regulation from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Mr. Robert Ngugi, Senior Deputy Director, Legal Services

Robert Ngugi is a Senior Deputy Director in charge of the Legal Department where he advises the Authority on legal matters in terms of policy development and negotiations, legal risk and regulatory matters. Robert Ngugi is a Chevening Alumini and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Nairobi, a post graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law (LLM) from the University of Nottingham. He has extensive experience in the Public Service and has previously worked in the Office of the Attorney General where he was his alternate in the Board of Director of various public organizations including Kenya Broadcasting Corporation and Tobacco Control Board. He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya, the East African Law Association and Chevening Alumini Associsation. .

 Ms. Dido Guyatu, Senior Deputy Director Corporate Affairs and Communications

Ms Dido Guyatu is in charge of Corporate Communications holds a Master of Arts degree in Corporate Communication from Daystar University with a Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate Communications from the Presbyterian University of East Africa. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications (Public Relations) from Daystar University. Dido has attended has attended several trainings relating to the corporate communications and management in various institutions including the Management School, London and Kenya School of Government

 Lt. Colonel (Rtd) Hared H. Adan,   Deputy Director and Head of Licensing

Colonel Hared holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Security Studies (Combating Terrorism), from the National Defence University (USA) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Political Science from University of Nairobi) coupled with numerous training in and out of the country. He has wealth of experience in Security, Investigation and Law enforcements. Previously worked with the Kenya Defence Forces for about 28 years and Independent Policing Oversight Authority for one & a half years. He has worked in Namibia as UN Peacekeeper and African Union/United Nations Mission in Darfur (Sudan) as the Force Provost Marshal responsible for policing the UN Military Component.

 Mr Wycliffe Wasike, Deputy Director, Finance

Wasike has a solid background in Financial Management, Budget and Human Capital Management. He has several years’ experience both  in private and public sector after working in leading institutions including Salaries and Remuneration Commission where he was the director in charge of finance and remuneration. He has also had a stint at the  Kenya Investment Authority, Kenya Revenue Authority and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology. Being a PhD candidate at the Nairobi University’s School of Business, Wasike is a member of several professional bodies including ICPAK and ICPSK.
