To achieve the goals of the Decade of Action for Road safety, all countries are encouraged to develop and implement a National Action Plan in line with the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011–2020.Such a National Action Plan is critical in achieving the achieving the Sustainable Development Goals Targets related to road safety (SGD Goal 3.6 and SDG Goal 11.2)

NTSA being the lead agency is leading in the development of comprehensive National Road Safety Action Plan 2018-2023 which is multisectoral, multiagency and multidisciplinary in nature with the involvement of public, private, NGOs and civil society organisations. The Action Plan is aligned to the Five pillars if Decade of Action for road safety. The Action Plan be National, Multisectoral, Multiagency and Multidisciplinary.

The First Consultative Stakeholders Forum on the National Road Safety Action Plan bringing together over 100 stakeholders in the road safety areas was organized by NTSA in KICC on 27th February 2018.

Working with partners, NTSA as the lead agency developed a road map to finalize and launch the National Road Safety Action Plan by June 2018.
